Finally, you’ll have an experienced, knowledgeable, and compassionate care team join you on one of the most transformative journeys of your life!

Our office is available to help you at every stage of your journey, whether you’re just starting out, already on a stable treatment regimen, or ready for surgery. How do I know if I’m transgendered?

Most start to feel “different” at an early age and as one’s body develops, the physical changes don’t line up with how you feel about yourself on the inside. For example, most transgendered females feel anxity and dysphoria as the masculine male body begins to develop in puberty and transgendered males have dysphoria as breast growth begins to happen. As you get older, you try to hide the parts of yourself you don’t like or wish you had the opposite parts. It can take months, even years with the help of a talk therapist to discover while others know much sooner. If you think you may be trans, give Dr. Elliott a call and start the conversation.

What is the treatment for transgendered patients?

Treatment is with hormones and other medications that change the hormone landscape in your body to match the gender you identify with. For female to male, we use testosterone. For male to females, we use estrogen and medications to lower testosterone levels. Changes are subtle at first and take time, but usually 4-6 months into treatment, patients see a difference. Facial features will change; skin, hair, and nails will change; the body shape will begin to change. Plus, it can be an emotional rollercoaster and feel like going through puberty all over again! Dr. Elliott will guide you through every step of the process and closely monitor your health and hormone levels along the way.
